The $50,000 Lindsay Maxwell Charitable Fund Cleveland Grand Prix will be Sunday’s (July 15) culmination of the horse show, which begins on Thursday, July 5.
Named for 27-year-old equestrian philanthropist Lindsay Maxwell, “The Lindsay Maxwell Charitable Fund supports organizations and programs that improve the lives of children with special needs; enables access to educational opportunities; and provides care, compassion and protection to animals. These goals are closely aligned with our Board mission for the Chagrin Hunter Jumper Classic: run a first class horse show; raise money for charitable causes; and provide educational programming,” said Chagrin Hunter Jumper Classic Board Chairman Lori Proch.
This sponsorship couldn’t come at a better time. With numerous large multi-week horse show series eating up sponsor dollars, it is a very competitive environment for a boutique show like the CHJC that runs for just 10 days on property they don’t own. Costs are high to run a first class sho
w and the community benefits from more than $3 million in tourism dollars, as well as contributions to local charities from the horse show. Additionally the event honors the area’s rich equestrian heritage and keeps the traditions alive.

The Chagrin Hunter Jumper Classic will get underway at the Cleveland Metroparks Polo Field in Moreland Hills on Thursday, July 5 with the unrated opening week. Classes for riders with disabilities will be held on Monday, July 9, and the rated horse show classes get underway on Tuesday, July 10. The $50,000 Lindsay Maxwell Charitable Fund Cleveland Grand Prix will be held on Sunday, July 15, celebrating the 53rd running of the first show jumping Grand Prix in North America.
